Careers


At Hove Park School & Sixth Form College we are committed to providing our students with a comprehensive programme of accurate, impartial and objective careers information, education, advice and guidance.


We aim to ensure that all individual students, irrespective of ability, can make informed decisions at all stages of their experience and development. As such, our careers programme is focused around Government recommendations as outlined in the Gatsby Benchmarks:

The careers programme at Hove Park School is delivered to years 7 to 13 through:

  • Comprehensive programme of Careers lessons through the Learning for Life Programme, yrs 7 – 11
  • Careers in the Curriculum: lessons focused on Career paths in Y8 to support Options Process
  • Start Profile Careers platform: online resource to support students throughout their time at HPS
  • Hove Park School Careers Fair
  • GCSE/Post 16 option evenings

Procedure

In accordance with the Baker Clause in the Technical and Further Education Act 2017, Hove Park School welcomes visits from a range of education and training providers throughout the school year and through the events, assemblies and PSHE lessons listed in our Careers Overview.  Please see our Statement on Provider Access for further details.

Opportunities for access

The school offers a comprehensive Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance programme and an overview of this programme can be seen in the School’s Careers Strategy which can be seen above.

 

Please speak to our Careers Advisor to identify the most suitable opportunity for you.

 

The school will make a suitable space available for discussions between the provider and students, as appropriate to the activity. The school will also make available ICT and other specialist equipment to support provider presentations. This will all be discussed and agreed in advance of the visit with the Careers Advisor or a member of their team.

 

Providers are welcome to leave a copy of their prospectus or other relevant course literature with the Careers Advisor so that they can be displayed in the Careers Section of the school library.
