Year 8 through to Semi Finals of Town Cup in Style

After a devastating defeat two weeks ago in the derby losing 4-3 to Blatchington Mill the year 8 team knew that only a win could secure them a route through to the semifinals of the town cup. In the other fixture Cardinal Newman won 3-1 against Blatchington Mill.

The top two teams from the group of three would qualify for the semi-finals. On Tuesday 26th March Hove Park arrived at Cardinal Newman knowing it was in their hands but only a win would do.

Some key players were played in different positions for this tie, the position changes paid off with Hove Park leading 1-0 at the break. Straight after half time they went 2-0 up with a well worked team goal. With ten minutes to go Joe K smashed a 25 yard free kick in the top corner, keeper no chance, there were huge celebrations at this point and even applause from the oppositions fans.. With minutes left Cardinal Newman were awarded a penalty that they converted.

Full Time Cardinal Newman 1-3 Hove Park.

This result means that Hove Park have amazingly finished top of the group on goal difference. They now await to see who they will draw in the semi finals, which will be the second placed side in the other group. It was a fantastic turn around after the huge disappointment of the defeat to Blatchington Mill. Man of the match had to go to goal keeper Ethan E.

Huge congratulations to the team for never giving up, and repairing the pain of that first defeat.
