New canteen for Hove Park School - Public Consultation

Please find below a letter regarding the public consultation taking place on 16th January in the Nevill Library, from 3:30pm – 7pm.

The public consultation is regarding the plans for the new dining facilities on the Nevill Campus, parents and carers are welcome to attend if you wish to.

Dear Parents and Carers,

PUBLIC CONSULTATION EVENT: ERECTION OF NEW SINGLE-STOREY REPLACEMENT KITCHEN AND DINING BLOCK AND DEMOLITION OF EXISTING DINING BLOCK AT HOVE PARK SCHOOL AND SIXTH FORM CENTRE, NEVILL ROAD CAMPUS, NEVILL ROAD, HOVE, BN3 7BN

We are writing to inform you of a public consultation event in respect of the above development. We will shortly be submitting a planning application to Brighton and Hove City Council for this scheme and we are providing you with the opportunity to view and comment on the scheme in advance of this submission. We are submitting this application on behalf of the Secretary of State for Education and the contractors who will be building the scheme; Eco Modular Buildings.

The consultation event will take place in the Nevill Road Campus Library on Wednesday 16th January 2019, between 3.30pm and 7:00pm. Plans of the proposed scheme will be on display and members of Eco Modular Buildings, the development team and representatives of the school will be on hand to answer any queries. Feedback forms will be available on the day for you to make comments.

Funding for a replacement dining and kitchen block on this site is being provided by the Department for Education as the existing dining block is in critically poor condition and requires replacement. Pupil capacity at the school will remain as existing; no increase in pupil numbers is proposed.

Plans will be on display at the event, however, in summary, the proposed development comprises a new 381sqm kitchen/dining block of modular construction, with the existing dining block to be demolished upon completion of the new block. The new building will be single storey in size and will be located adjacent to the existing dining block in the western part of the school campus.

Subject to planning permission being received, it is intended that the new building will be available for occupation from Autumn 2019. The remaining school buildings will operate as normal and be open throughout the construction period.

Once the planning application has been submitted, full details will also be available on the Council’s website

This project will deliver the replacement dining facilities that the school desperately needs. We look forward to welcoming you to the consultation event and discussing the proposals with you.
