Hove Park Year 7 competed in the English Schools Football Association 5 aside Tournament 2018 on Friday 23rd February.
The tournament took place at Power League in London.
Hove Park were in a group of six other District Winners.
The original winning team were missing Adian E through Injury, Jack T through illness and Joe K through other commitments. Benj S, Connor D & Josh M took their places.
1- Hove Parks first game was against All Saints School and Hove Park began this tournament in style winning 3-2.
2- In the second game v St Johns it proved a tougher battle being 2-1 down Hove Park managed to score on the whistle 2-2.
3- Then v Meopham a solid goal keeping display from Micheal W and some clinical finishing winning 2-0
4- Then v Woodcote with the team now in fine form another solid display saw another impressive win 3-0
After four very tough matches Hove Park had still not lost and had accumulated a hugely impressive 10 points
5- v Sunbury Manor- Hove Park managed to be leading 3-1 with only a minute to play, but with the intensity of the games and fatigue setting in Hove conceded two goals in a minute 3-3 draw.
6- The strongest side of the pool in Kingsdale, with every player at an academy player it looked a tough match, eventually losing 9-0 Kingsdale were an amazing team.
After six games outside in sub-zero condition Hove Park had amazingly-
A great effort and with a team that had lost three of its original players. Sadly finishing on 11points Hove Park missed out on qualifying for the semi-finals by 1 point. This was a great performance by the team.
They proudly represented Brighton District. Congratulations to them all.
A huge thanks must also go to Varndean School for allowing us to kindly travel up to the tournament with them. Their girls side managed to win the whole tournament so a huge congratulations to them. Both schools were a credit to Brighton & Hove District Football.
